PLAYING UP A STORM

BRASS ROOTS LIVE...

Brass Roots Live is 12 piece big band consisting of some very fine musicians and singers from all around Brisbane. The group was founded by Rob Freer who felt there was a need for a community based big band to perform a greater range of music. These guys and gals are very versitile and play everything from Glen Miller to Joe Cocker.

GUY BOOTH

Guy Booth has completed Bachelor of Music at the Queensland Conservatorium (Griffith University),

He won the Jeffrey Black Scholarship for Baritone (2004) and the Donald Penman prize for voices in combination (2005).

He studied in Germany and in 2008 became a Developing Artist for Opera Queensland. In 2010 he will become a Young Artist opening up other opportunities.

JEREMY BEAMISH

Talent is in the genes of the Beamish Family who live in an idyllic location in northern NSW.

 

Young Jeremy Beamish recently performed the haunting Pie Jesu with his mother Coloratura Liza Beamish at St Stephens Cathedral at Brisbane, Australia.

 

On November 24 at St John's Cathedral, Brisbane he will perform the well-loved Walking in the Air from the Snowman.

 

Looks like Jeremy is setting off on his own journey through the Sound of Music

SOPRANO MILICA ILIC

Award winning Serbian born Milica Ilic migrated to New Zealand in 1996 and as a member of the Young Friends of Opera New Zealand met Dame Kiri Te Kanawa and completed a workshop hosted by the internationally renowned soprano.

She studied German at the Goethe-Institut in Berlin (2005) and Academy of Music in Würzburg in Germany). In 2009 is a Developing Artist at Opera Queensland while completing her studies in a Bachelor of Music Degree at the Queensland Conservatorium Griffith University (QCGU).

Winner of numerous prizes including the 2008 Australian National Eisteddfod and the Dame Joan Sutherland Vocal Competition (at the youngest recorded age of 19). In 2010 Milica will be a Young Artist at Opera Queensland.

Born in Budapest, Hungary, Gregory Hartay-Szabo came to Australia as a dual citizen in 1998 and majored in Organ at the Queensland Conservatorium under the tutelage of Christopher Wrench.

He won the Conservatorium Organ prize in three consecutive years, graduating with Honours in 2003.

He has performed in numerous local and interstate organ recitals and concerts, including the Brisbane Festival in 2002 and 2004.

Since February 2005, Greg has been Organist/Director of Music at Albert Street Uniting Church.
