A MAIN EVENT on the Brisbane 150th Anniversary Celebrations Calendar - Féte was held on Sunday June 21, 2009 at Brisbane Queensland Australia

The rain that fell from the heavens on Fete day causing the cancellation of many outdoor venues. However it did not dampen the enthusiasm or performance of those able to be brought under shelter and those already programmed to perform at indoor venues.

At the Art Gallery the performers programmed were enthusiastically received

Men Wot Sing sang up a storm!

HISTORICAL

Féte de la Musique has become a world wide musical phenomenon since it started on June 21 1982 at Paris on the day of the solstice. The Fête is now held on June 21 in over 350 cities around the world and in Brisbane from 2008 onward.

At Paris hundreds of musicians gather in the streets, bars and cafes each year giving free performances of everything from jazz and rock to hip hop and electronic music. Orchestras, brass bands, jazz, rock, pop, opera singers, folk singers, techno, ethnic, rap and funk music groups, gospel singers, school and church choirs and musical performers all join in to make this popular event a great success at Brisbane.
