Colour My Senses – Brisbane in Bloom!

Brisbane ArcadeAlways my favourite place to traverse and shop when I lived in Brisbane, the Brisbane Arcade is an historic landmark in the Queen Street Mall in the heart of Brisbane. It will soon host its first Spring Flower Show, with fresh spring blooms, sweet fragrances and vivid colours.

Flowers on Show‘Colour My Senses’ will be held 1st to the 6th September and is the theme, which will be designed and produced by award-winning flower artist and wedding flower arranger extraordinaire, Julia Rose from the Gold Coast, along with a team of supporting florists locally and from around Australia. Putting on a show of this scale takes enormous planning and effort by a team of individuals, coming together as one to create a beautiful outcome. If the image we have is indicative, then it will be a great event. Julia plans to source the show blooms and greenery locally as much as possible.

Flowers“This is a real honour and I am so excited to be producing Brisbane Arcade‘s Spring Flower Show i… in the heart of Brisbane’s CBD,” Julia said. “I hope every city visitor, tourist or worker takes time out in the first week of September to visit Brisbane Arcade and absorb the brilliance, vibrancy and fragrance of fresh flowers and their sensation as large scale installations.”

Flowers & FruitThe actual on-site build will occur overnight on Sunday, 31st August over a 12 hour period expected to be from 6pm to 6am. Ten fully qualified florists will be involved in the project along with at least 20 floral assistants to bring the show together.

Gorgeous FlowersBrisbane Arcade Marketing Manager Rachel Pearson says the Spring Flower Show is not just about celebrating spring but honouring the iconic Brisbane Arcade. “We want this to become an annual happening for Brisbane Arcade and a chance to remember some of the romance and tradition of shopping,” Rachel said.

Flowers in BloomFour weeks out, fabrication processes are well underway and the project has already required a massive truck delivery of vases, cartons of floral foam and kilograms of florist wire ready for construction and installation. “We want shoppers, city workers and visitors to Brisbane to experience Brisbane Arcade in full bloom,” she said.
