WOW – The talented team at the National Gallery of Victoria (NGV) are going all out with the fabulous events attached to their stunning Spring/Summer show The Fashion World of JEAN PAUL GAULTIER: From the Sidewalk to the Catwalk 17th October, 2014 to 8th February, 2015, marrying fashion with music – a natural fit.
Friday Nights at Jean Paul Gaultier 24 Oct – Fri 6 Feb (excl 26 Dec & 2 Jan), will see the gallery transformed into a fabulous fun destination for city night life 5.30–9.30pm. Visitors will enjoy after-hours access to the Jean Paul Gaultier exhibition and hear from a line-up of Australian and international musicians. The program of electronic artists, solo performers and bands will include The Frikstailers (pronounced ‘freak-stylers) will be showcasing their own intense musical journey of 1980’s synths and psychedelic sounds.
Performers listed are well known on the international and national music scene including JD Samson best known for being one third of the electronic-feminist-punk band and performance project, Le Tigre and Elizabeth Rose whose electronic pop songs are bright and moody, layering catchy melodies against shimmering synths and pulsing beats.
Kate Miller-Heidke, who has redefined the boundaries of pop music in Australia, will also make a welcome appearance. There is a cost involved and bookings should be made early to avoid disappointment.
