Last Wednesday night, fashion retail giant David Jones celebrated their launch of spring/summer 2013

Walking the white carpet, was the who’s who of the Australian fashion world, including Alex Perry, Dion Lee,Kit Willow and Camilla.

Strutting their stuff on the L shaped catwalk were brand ambassadors Montana Cox, indigenous beauty Samantha Harris, stunning twins Zac and Jordan Stenmark, and six time “Sports Illustrated” cover girl Jessica Gomes.

Walking to the beat of an all Australian soundtrack, provided by Jonny Seymour, and styled by the man with a ripened eye, creative director Kelvin Harries, it was a night of Antipodean pride.

Guests made their way to the seventh floor of David Jones flagship Elizabeth Street store, to sip champagne and to see, and be seen.

Aveda being the official hair sponsor, developed 2 key looks, modern French roll and pool side chic.

These were fused with make up by shu uemura, which was all about the inner goddess.

These worked perfectly to compliment each runway look.

With a plethora of creativity under the DJ’s umbrella, expectations were high, but the whole team certainly delivered! So, it was on with the show!

Interestingly, the coveted opening spot was dedicated to a trend rather than one designer, very clever on the stores behalf.

Jessica Gomes looked stunning in Willow, white on white. Sexy corsetry and wide leg pants were a knock out combination.

Willow designer Kit Willow has been in the David Jones stable for 10 years and keeps going from strength to strength.

She showed clean, bold lines, feminine tailoring and took her inspiration fro marble and stone.

Black and white was in the spotlight.

Fresh, crisp and stylish, this is a trend for everyone. And if you feel the need for a pop of colour that we have all be used to for the past couple of months, just add a statement neckpiece, cuff or even a neon shoe!

The choice is yours.

I loved Simona, a swinging sixties vibe. Featuring a fab mod chequer board print cape, thick vertical stripes and subtle sequins, it was fun and sophisticated all at the same time.

Alex Perry embraced a much younger silhouette, with sheer lace, yellow brocade, zip details and transparent panels.

It was a fresh take on his classic style.

Lover, one of my personal favourites, featured divine teal lace, laser cut leather and skater skirts, just FAB!

Also loved Carl Kapp. His eye for detail is exemplary.

Beautifully subtle colour blocking, and a white blazer to die for. These pieces would live in any womans wardrobe for years to come.

Not to be forgotten are the guys. Calibre showed fantastic tangerine and monaco blue.

Bassike and Jac & Jack put out fab foundation pieces in their signature high quality fabrics, always a pleasure to wear. Zanerobe channeled Hawaii, with palm tree detailing on T-shirts.

It was bright and breezy, ready for a Mai Tai!

Josh Goot (pictured) was structured, with black, white, silver and leopard looks.

Akira and Trelise Cooper both stuck to what they do best, graceful lines and elegant materials.

As did Ellery and Rachel Gilbert. Pure bliss both in the tactile and design sense.

Dion Lee featured thigh splits and asymmetrical lines, Bec and Bridge had cut outs and loose silhouettes, and Alannah Hill gave us a sixties vibe with gelato hues, excellent for spring.

Collette Dinnigan was superb as always sending out a sexy silver cocktail dress, another favourite.

Ginger and Smart were all about the 3 piece in the form of bra tops, blazers and pants.

Lace, geometrics and elbow grazing sleeves were fresh as a summers day. I did love the navy and bottle green, a spunky combo!

Finally it was all about Camilla!

Our queen of the kaftan didn’t disappoint, sending every aspect of the colour wheel down the Italian Riviera inspired catwalk.

From rainbow brights to muted tones that were straight from India, to African Queen with aqua and zebra and many other animal prints in between.

We had Bahama babe and gypsy princess, all reigned in by clever cuts and use of volume.

Closing the night was Jessica Gomes in a stunning bustier blending tiger, leopard and zebra all pulled together with that touch of that refreshing aqua.

She looked like the ultimate”Glamazon”. Camilla joining her for a final bow, beaming with pride at a cohesive collection.

So what will you be wearing this spring? One location has it covered!

Take your pick, there’s no other store like David Jones.
