Magic of Music at St Mary’s – Kangaroo Point Treasures

St Mary’s Anglican Church perched high on the cliffs at Kangaroo Point in Brisbane has a breathtaking view of the river and the city. It is full of charm, a relic of colonial days it not only has a wonderful acoustic for music, but also an impressive array of talented people, who regularly support the musical department headed by Director Emily Cox.  They provide some very special and magical music experiences for you to treasure.

On Sunday 27th October, 4 – 5 pm Dr Peter Roennfeldt former head of the Conservatorium will join forces with Brisbane musicians and St Mary’s Choir to highlight the careers and contributions of some of Queensland’s early musicians who were connected to St Mary’s in various ways. The presentation will take the form of an illustrated talk, with live performances of music associated with these and other outstanding musical pioneers. On Tuesday 29th October, 7:30 pm, the Canticum Chamber Choir, an ensemble in residence at St Mary’s led by Emily Cox is proud to host the internationally acclaimed Manila Chamber Singers (Philippines), on the Brisbane leg of their tour of Australia. The choir of 20 young professionals and students has won several major international choral competitions and have toured extensively around the world. They will perform together in a concert of diverse repertoire: sacred and secular works from five centuries, as well as Filipino works.
