Artist Martin Edge‘s distinctive naive design and style is enhanced by vibrant colours and will be on view at the Robyn Bauer Gallery, 54 Latrobe Terrace at Paddington in Brisbane during May. The opening is on Saturday evening May 4th and Martin will also give a an ‘artist talk’ on Thursday 9th May at 11am. Martin takes his subject matter from his own daily life, performing the ordinary tasks we all do, as well as having some exciting experiences as he captures the colourful Brisbane landscape.
His City Cat comments have become an important part of his signature image. A finalist in the Blake Prize 2009, Martin has been shortlisted for numerous awards and recently one of his works was acquired by Parliament House Canberra for their permanent collection. Painting in his own style, his works capture the essence of the city big enough to get lost in and small enough to feel at home. There will be a selection of works available from large to very small, but you will have to go to the gallery to see them in the flesh.
