I know we are still in our Southern hemisphere winter, but having passed the winter solstice in the month of June, I can’t help but feel excited.
The days are getting a little longer and the sky a little bluer, so time to plan the Spring wardrobe.
Two key pieces I predict to bloom in this one of my favourite seasons, are the jumpsuit and the bomber jacket.
The bomber looks great with a pencil skirt, cigarette pants or, over my tip, the jumpsuit!
It’s a great trans-seasonal item to have in your repertoire. It works well just thrown around the shoulders, clean and casual.
Both are easy to wear and can be dressed up or down.
Last Summer I invested in the fabulous Manning Cartell “Edition” indigo denim backless number that I just love.
It will be getting a major workout this year too.
It fits like a glove, and with a boot cut leg, it’s oh so flattering.
Just recently another denim one piece caught my eye.
This time in a more traditional denim shade, the “Jessie” jumpsuit by Californian label Guess.
Started in 1981 by the Marciano family, Guess shot to fame with their fashion campaigns featuring the likes of German supermodel Claudia Schiffer and the late US bombshell Anna Nicole Smith.
This time it was starlet Hailey Baldwin rocking the look at a Guess perfume launch. I just adore it!
Its fun and fresh, it could be worn with bubblegum pink pumps, roughed up biker boots or high top Converse sneakers.
And I can see it worn with my other hot tip, the bomber jacket.
It’s definitely a late ’70’s early ’80’s vibe, but I think that’s cool and very on trend this year.
The stunning model Coco Rocha has designed, what I think is a divine version. It’s actually a cape-bomber hybrid, and it works like a charm!
Rocha designs a label under the moniker CO + CO, and the “Coleen” cape is just one of her clever pieces.
She also has some pretty cool jumpsuits too like the “Carole” jumpsuit.
The bomber jacket looks great in softer fabrics, such as satin and really works in any colour.
I do love vintage embroidered styles.
I have spied some fabulous pieces at Sydney boutique Route 66.
They have a retro vibe with a rock’n’roll twist. Super cool!
So will you embrace the bomber and jump right in to the jumpsuit, next seasons hottest looks for Spring?
I know I will.
