Sydney Chamber Music Festival 2015 – 26 & 27 September, 2015

Guy NobleThe annual Sydney Chamber Music Festival 2015, to be performed in the first metropolitan based regional gallery in NSW the Manly Art Gallery and Museum, on 26th and 27th September, is integral to the cultural calendar of Sydney and the Manly Arts Festival.  This year renowned Director actor John Bell AO, OBE, ABC personality Guy Noble,  flautist and festival artistic director Bridget Bolliger and British pianist Andrew West will all take part.

Mother with childStarting at 11am Concert 1 on Saturday 26th September ‘Fun Brass’ will welcome children of all ages. Sounding a fanfare to begin, classic Australian children’s stories have been set to music presented in a coffee concert setting followed by tea, scones and chatter. It will also feature distinguished musicians from the Sydney Symphony Orchestra and Australian Opera and Ballet Orchestra including Anthony Heinrichs on Trumpet, Marnie Sebire on Horn and Colin Burrows on Trombone.

Bridget BolligerDancing Shadows is Concert 2, to be held on Saturday 26th September at 7pm offering music by Johann Sebastian Bach, American composer Aaron Copland and Franz Schubert. There will also be music for flute and piano by the Australian composer, musician, poet and music educator Miriam Hyde who has left her own individual mark on the Australian musical landscape.  Featuring musicians Bridget Bolliger on Flute and Andrew West on Piano in a program of both beautiful poetry and sound.

John BellTownsville born composer Robert Keane has dedicated his new work “Music for John Bell” – Five Shakespearian Portraits for Wind Quintet and Actor to the Shakespearean specialist John Bell, who is a living legend in Australia helping to shape the nation’s theatrical identity as we know it over the past 50 years. Celebrating his 75th birthday the event offers as narrator Guy Noble, with on piano: Andrew West and the New Sydney Wind Quintet: Bridget Bolliger on flute, Matthew Tigue the Oboe, Peter Jenkin on clarinet, Robert Johnson on Horn and Matthew Ockenden on Bassoon.
