Animated by the ‘spirit of the age’, some 50 Australian and International dealers and retailers will offer their vintage and antique wares for sale at The Sydney Fair, May 30 – June 2, 2019, including fine art, fabulous furniture, lighting, sculpture, jewellery, silver, glass, ceramics and vintage couture.
Fine works of art and pieces of great design, including works in the Art Deco style, which please the eye and connect with the soul in any age, are worthy of our admiration and attention, conservation and considered investment.
The golden rule is to endeavour to collect the best quality examples from any period of your choice. You will do well and have lots of fun, which is what it is really all about.
What is an Antique
Collecting antiques is often misrepresented as being the hobby of a select few.
From my experience attending fairs and auctions over a four decades, collecting fine or decorative art works, in all their forms, is a pleasure indulged in by a vast number of people from all walks of life.
Held in the Kensington Room at Randwick Racecourse, Sydney, both collectors and interior designers will be sure to take up the opportunity to discover something rare or wonderful, to suit their own, or their client’s needs.
A first-time exhibition within this diverse showcase, will be The History of the Handbag, highlighting many different models designed and manufactured by some of the world’s most revered fashion houses over the last hundred years.
They will also go mobile on Saturday and Sunday June 1 and 2, as models dressed in garments from corresponding eras, present beautiful bags from the houses of Chanel, Dior, Gucci, Ferragamo, Dolce & Gabbana and more.
The Sydney Fair will have something to suit everyone’s budget and favourite styles. Exhibitors Include, Belle Epoque Fine Art and Antiques, Chineur Antiques, Circa Collectables, Coutura Vintage, Grange Antiques, Hunters & Collectors Antiques, Nomadic Rug Traders, Vintage Online, to name but a few.
Local dealers Antiques Art and Design, will offer vintage Georg Jensen jewellery, Scandinavian and modernist silver, Mid Century design, Chinese antiques and art.
Jermel Nakia is jetting in from the U.S., bringing an exceptional collection of Vintage Fashion, including some pieces worn by Lady Gaga.
If you are looking for rare French vintage linens and other unique textiles, then Vintage Linens and Collectables is the stand for you.
As always, The Sydney Fair should be a fun, fashionable, socially and culturally relevant event, displaying a great deal of razzmatazz.
