Australian Archaeological Institute at Athens established at Sydney University in 1980, is an extraordinary group founded by Emeritus Professor Alexander Cambitoglou AO. His dedication and commitment to expanding knowledge of the discoveries at the heart of western cultural development, is perhaps his greatest legacy. The institute hold all sorts of events here and in Greece, including erudite lectures. They provide the latest information to hand on archaeological excavations, including those being discovered under the sea. The AAIA also operates Societies of Friends with active events programs in Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Hobart, Perth, Canberra, Brisbane and Athens.
